But it doesn’t have to stay that way. Our community deserves to see the JLJ Auditorium come alive again. It can once again be a place for connection, creativity, and pride in what we can do together.

Hello Friends and Supporters,
We are deeply grateful to everyone who took part in this year’s Giving Tuesday effort, including the generous donor who offered a $5,000 match and inspired so many others to join in.
Your support reflects more than a fundraising goal. It shows the growing belief in what this project can bring to Henry County. This future community center will strengthen quality of life, expand opportunities, and serve as a catalyst for local growth.
This campaign reminded us that people see the potential in this building and the important role it can play in our community’s future. Your participation, whether through giving, sharing the message, or simply following along, affirms that this vision matters.
If you have not already, we invite you to sign up for our newsletter or reach out through the website with questions or ideas. Staying connected is the best way to follow our progress and help shape what comes next.
We hope to see you at one of our December concerts and look forward to bringing this vision to life, a true gateway to community and growth.
With gratitude,
The Board of Trustees
Cultural Center of Henry County
Although Giving Tuesday falls on December 2, our campaign continues through early December, and gifts are welcome throughout the rest of the month. We’re asking for your help to take the next big step toward turning the former school on Main Street into the heart of our community once again. While some believe demolition is the answer, we know what’s at stake—and how much potential is already inside those walls.
Inside this building, we already have everything we need: gymnasiums for athletics, a cafeteria and meeting rooms for events, and the beautiful John L. Johnson Auditorium ready to host performances and community gatherings. It’s all right here, waiting to come back to life.
Imagine what that would mean for our neighbors, our families, and our local businesses. A place to play, learn, create, and celebrate together. For a town that often feels like there’s nothing new to do, this project offers something lasting — a true gathering place that will lift everyone.
Our volunteers have already invested over 20,000 hours caring for the building and raising awareness. We know we can’t give up. But we also know we can’t succeed without you.
Three easy ways to give:
Our organization continues to maintain the building, including the 700-seat JLJ Auditorium, with a plan to repurpose the facility into a hub for arts, education, athletics, and wellness activities everyone in our community can enjoy.
As many of our neighbors know, we are in the appellate phase to regain occupancy of the building we own. While we would prefer to wait until all legal matters are resolved, the reality is that upkeep and awareness both have real costs. Thanks to a generous donor, utilities are covered, but your gift helps sustain maintenance, outreach, and momentum toward reopening a space our community can once again call its own. Every contribution matters.
