The historic status of the former school as a 100-year-old building allows us to re-start with the existing building safety and ADA facilities. Instead of expensive new on-building HVAC units, the plan opts to simply refurbish the existing low-pressure steam heating system.
We are expecting that initial occupancy can be achieved for $75K, with possible extended expenses for the boiler or elevator.
Step #1: Re-establish Occupancy - Reopen the auditorium and Snake Pit. Re-introduce educational functions in the building.
Step #2: Project and Venue Development - Build community interest, secure financial support and determine appropriate timeline for initial improvements. Details have been mapped out and include things like repainting, lighting upgrades and flooring repairs in gym.
Step #3: Ongoing Development - Continuously pursue both Capital Development and Program Development grants, establish the upgraded auditorium as a talent destination and hire a general manager.
To date, we have approximately 70 donors including a commitment from one supporter to help make sure we can maintain monthly bills for our first 5 years of occupancy. We have launched an awareness campaign (Revive Napoleon) to update and engage people in our community.
Our next costs will depend on our donors, grants, program costs, and income. We will remodel and upgrade rooms as funds allow. Our board is reviewing the grant application process.
